So what does retirement have in store for you? Travel? Community activities? Painting or pottery? Writing a book? How about all of the above! Together, we will explore the endless opportunities available to you as you open a new chapter in your life.
For some, retirement means unplugging the alarm clock, grabbing the remote and plunking down in the nearest recliner. Or playing bingo one night a week and staying home and petting the cat the other six. Not in my world! There are just too many exciting and rewarding things to do and I will help you find them. It is very important to stay active and involved—for your health, your spirit and your relationships with others.
Don’t forget you
At retirement, you will not only make new friends, your relationship with your spouse, significant other, your children and their children will change as well. You will most likely be available to them more hours of the day. That does not mean that you should give all of your time away. Make time to enjoy the things in life you have worked for all those years and the things you have been looking forward to doing.
Most people now live into their 80s and 90s which means retirement is a major part of the time you spend on this earth. It takes careful planning.
Most people don not plan for retirement. Not really. It is more than making sure you have the finances to live comfortably. It is also about a new lifestyle and a new identity. You are no longer defined by your occupation. You are literally stepping into a new world and creating a new you. It is important to be aware of this ahead of time so the transition is not jarring and unexpected. Without careful planning, retirement can be a time of struggle, rather than the best years of your life. As your life coach, it is my job to help you make your retirement years the best years of your life!
